This is the latest information Mr.Karunanithi said that one hot news , They have started one new Government Arts & Science College in the first time. it is located at Singalanthi , Vadarniyam Road, Thiruthuraipoondi, It is a long process for people needed one college at thiruthuraipoondi , till now it is happended, we are proudly thanks to Mr.Karunanithi Our C.M.

The thiruthuraipoondi People Much more time said we need one college in our place .but some Politician broke that the opportunity. however still now open College at thiruthuraipoondi, Before many of student study in out of town like Mannargudi, Thiruvarur, Tanjore, Nagai, but now solve the problem we have a college in our home town

Thiruthuraipoondi is a city and a municipality in Thiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Thiruthuraipoondi is located 330 km south of Chennai, 40 km west of Nagappattinam and 65 km east of Thanjavur

Thiruthuraipoondi is an Agricultural Town located south of District Thiruvarur. It is covered more than 25 villages. Most of the people doing agricultur. A Famous Piravimarundeesar Temple is locating center of the town. This temple is 200 years old. Satellite pictures and carbon dating of some ancient beaches between Thiruthuraipoondi and Kodiyakarai show the Thiruthuraipoondi beach dates back to 6,000 years and the Kodiyakarai beach to 1,100 years. In other words, the sea was near Thiruthuraipoondi 6,000 years ago and reached Kodiyakarai around 1,100 years ago.

He founded the Gemini Studio in 1940, which was one of the most successful film production units. Vasan made blockbusters in Tamil, Telugu, and also Hindi. Vasan's memorable films include Mangamma Sabatham, Balanagamma, Chandralekha, Apoorva Sahotharargal, Vanjikottai valiban, Nishan, Gharana, Grihsati and Paigham. Chandralekha was his magnum opus, the film was shot for 5 years (1943-1948).

In Thiruthuraipoondi, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

A Government Boys Higher Secondary School is locating in the pattukottai road. It was built by British Government in 1936.

State assembly politics

Since 1971, Tiruthuraipundi constituency has been consistently voting for left parties (CPI/CPM). This is one of few constituents in Tamil Nadu, that is a bastion for communist parties in Tamil Nadu. G. Palaniswamy, of CPI, has won this constituent, four straight elections, from 1989 to 2001. It is worth noting, that he won this constituent, in 1991, which made it one of handful of constituents, that was won by a party other than ADMK/Congress, that year.
